Stayed 4 nights at this first class hotel staying 2 nights in the fabulous junior suite and 2 nights in the deluxe balcony room, we have been lucky enough to stay in some top hotels throughout the world and this is the best we have had the pleasure to stay in. The rooms at this hotel are well thought out and everything is top top quality but for my wife and myself the service and attention to detail make this place the best. To meet the owners and to be asked if all ok and anything could be done for us on a daily basis by the owners is fantastic. The staff in general are also first class and we came away from edgar house feeling refreshed, spoilt, and special. Thankyou and look forward to staying again.

“Wow! What a Place”
My husband found this place for us while we were travelling for two weeks through the UK and Wales. When we arrived, I was speechless. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The attention to detail went beyond my wildest expectations. It's immaculate, spacious, gorgeous, perfect! It had only been open for a few weeks, so it's all new and gorgeous.
The hosts were kind and welcoming. I wished we had arrived earlier so I could have enjoyed the place longer, but we were only there for one night - wish we could have stayed for two or three. In my opinion, this is the place to stay in Chester - the only place to stay!
Do not pass this place up - not for any other. You won't be disappointed.

“Scrumptiously Devine !”
It's not often that I come back from a heavy night out and feel compelled to write a contribution here as soon as I have a cuppa in my hand - but here I am, writing this with a big smile on my face. I never thought English hotels could match those in Dubai or parts of the Indian Ocean, I have been proved wrong by Edgar House!
From the first email I wrote to Mike with the warm, friendly and accommodating reply, I got the feeling that our stay here would be memorable, and goodness me was I right! Free parking at the back of the hotel, was easy and convenient (especially on race day in Chester) and Mike was there to greet us with a cheeky smile and happy 'hello'.
Each room is individual, check in is usually 4pm, but our room was ready to occupy at mid-day ahead of the first race.... There are a small amount of bespoke rooms, each with their own character, we opted for a Riverview Deluxe room, looking out onto the well maintained gardens and river beyond. Through the sash windows, the noise of the river seeps through massaging your senses, which are equally rewarded visually when your door to your room opens. Modern Fine art, attention to detail, silk tea bags, fresh coffee and milk, feather soft towels and an outstanding bed all shone out in front of us. All I could say, when we had a moment to ourselves after personal check in was 'WOW'.
Each room has a comfortable sofa facing a flat screen wall mounted TV, with single pieces of furniture, complimenting the rooms, the sleep quality here is second to none!
I cannot recommend this boutique hotel highly enough, with an unrivalled attention to detail replicated on no other occasion in any other UK hotel we have ever stayed in (we even got 2 chocolate brownies delivered to our room when we came back temporarily to change before we went back out) - even the Langham in London!
The buildings architecture, design prowess, location within the walls and within walking distance to the races is perfect.
My next task, once I have finished this review, is to book up for next month’s stay as my husband and I simply, did not want to leave!

We booked this hotel at late notice after reading positive reviews on this website and were not disappointed. Very friendly hosts, lovely decor and great location by the river. Would have liked just a few more hours in the room, though, but a very minor quibble.

We visited Edgar House after reading the positive reviews and it lived up to our expectations and more! The room was beautiful, gorgeous decor, large sash windows and a lovely terrace overlooking the river. The owners of the hotel are friendly and welcoming without being 'over the top'. It takes only a few minutes to walk into the city centre and parking was free. We had a wonderful stay here and we will definitely return. Thank you for a fabulous night away from the kids!!
